Elaine Wigle
Elaine Wigle graduated from York University in 1985 with a BFA, majoring in sculpture and printmaking. The focused training on process and responsiveness to materials directly informs her jewellery making, which she has been pursuing since the inception of Wigle Designs in 1986.
Elaine hand fabricates every element of her pieces, casting components from original wax designs. From the unique Wigle Design clasp, to custom bevels to the smallest toggle or jump ring connecting the beautiful materials, each piece is a painstaking labour of detail and form. Her jewellery designs highlight the organic beauty of fossils, minerals, and unusual pearls. The textures and shapes of these stones and pearls determine the metal work to create a unified and fluid relationship between materials.
